Iteration on a conversation

When iterating on my conversation piece I really wanted to look at the idea of perceived materialistic value, by looking at the everyday objects we carry around with us or that we have in our homes.

What I did:

A series of images of the contents of handbags. Participants were instructed to, in descending order of perceived value, remove items and reflect on their decision process.

I also asked participants to do the same by looking in their homes and photographing a few items of value.

What I found:

My network is too limited.

Participants questioned what value actually meant.

I have spoken to many expats, but what about my newfound community in the Netherlands.

keywords: value, perceived valued, sentimentality, self-awareness
